FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Why is this integrity envelope so different from evidence container envelopes currently in use?

A. This envelope was developed after a major criminal case failed in the court system due to inadequate evidence handling. The integrity evidence containment envelope can ensure that crime evidence will not be eliminated due to chain of custody failure. Many law enforcement agencies are using evidence containers that do not provide for documentation of the chain of custody. The integrtity envelope has the capability to be opened and re-sealed up to seven times.

Q. Can I insert questioned documents, credit cards, forgeries, etc.?

A. Yes, the integrity envelope is ideal for those items.

Q. Can I insert bulky evidence items?

A. Yes, the integrity envelope’s unique design allows both sides of the envelope to expand, thereby making bulky evidence a breeze to secure.

Q. What protects the chain of custody writing from being altered?

A. Before the evidence is inserted into the integrity envelope, the case documentation is written on the proper sealing flap. The evidence is inserted, the proper flap is sealed onto the envelope body and approved evidence tape is applied over the writing and seal closure. This procedure is required by ASCLD.

Q. How do I know if the evidence has been tampered or contaminated?

A. The integrity envelope is designed so there are no exposed seams to tamper or destroy. The intruder must remove the tamper proof evidence tape or physically cut into the envelope to access the evidence. If this happens, it will be quite obvious that the evidence has been compromised.

Q. My lab is ASCLD approved. Will this envelope affect my lab rating?

A. Not at all. The integrity envelope has been reviewed by ASCLD.

Q. Has this envelope been field tested?

A. Yes, the integrity envelope has been in use by a major US Government lawenforcement agency.

Q. Is it possible to have my specific lab or unit name printed on the envelope?

A. Yes, for identification purposes, many forensic labs require that their specific agency is printed on the face of the integrity envelope.

Q. What is the “minimum order” quantity?

A. Because of the complexity in the manufacturing process, a minimum of 1,000 units is required.
